How to Change Enshrouded Server Settings via the Config File

Customizing your Enshrouded server settings allows you to tailor the game to your preferences and enhance the experience for you and your players. This guide will walk you through editing the configuration file and ensuring the difficulty is set to Custom for the changes to take effect.


Step 1: Set Difficulty to Custom in the Startup Tab

  1. Log in to your Peel Panel account at https://peel.bananaservers.ca.

  2. Navigate to your server's Startup tab.

  3. Locate the [SERVER] Difficulty Preset option.

  4. Set the dropdown to Custom. This is required to apply any manual changes made in the configuration file.

  5. Save the changes.


Step 2: Access the Configuration File

  1. In Peel Panel, go to the File Manager tab of your server.

  2. Navigate to the main root directory of your server files:

    /home/container/
  3. Locate the configuration file named enshrouded_server.json.

  4. Click on the file to open it for editing.


Step 3: Edit Server Settings

  1. Once the configuration file is open, you will see a list of settings in JSON format. Below is an example of the default structure:

  2. Customize the settings to fit your preferences. For example:

    • Adjust experienceCombatFactor to change how much combat experience is earned.

    • Set foodBuffDurationFactor to modify the duration of food buffs.

    • Change enemyHealthFactor and enemyDamageFactor to adjust the difficulty of enemies.

  3. Save the file after making your changes.


Step 4: Restart Your Server

  1. Go back to the Console or Dashboard tab in Peel Panel.

  2. Click Restart to apply the updated configuration.

  3. Your server will now load with the new settings applied.
